An Engaging Serenade

An Engaging Serenade
I took a stroll in the yard today,
the hour was mid morn.
I paused to just inhale the day
and rejoice at Spring's newborn...
As I stood, I heard a tune
sing out loud and strong...
and let my eye, led by my ear
slowly pan along...
Above my head, there framed in leaf,
a flash of scarlet's shout...
the sweetest little cardinal sat,
his melody quite stout.
Frozen in the moment, I,
in wonder, could but stare,
to find this little crowned carmine
sit singing to me there.
His song a lilting, throaty tune
enthralled me into trance...
a captivating song he sang
that made my spirit dance.
He spied me down below him,
and sang with all his might...
a song so sweet and beautiful
a most delightful audio-sight.
He never missed a single beat
in engaging serenade...
delivering a gift so fine,
unique in crafting, and hand made.
He set my heart to thrill with joy
to hear his soul-felt song
and as I stood, enraptured, there
my spirit sang along!

Good mornin', Tnderhrt --
What a lyrical, wonderful piece. I was right there with you, listening to the cardinal's song. Great pictures, great writing. Voting up and beautiful!
Your pictures of the Cardinal are beautiful and your poetry is amazing. I love them both.
Lovely and so vivid in flowing verse- it made my spirits dance too to imagine the cardinal's song :>)
...well all of your poetic serenades are engaging - in fact I was sitting out on my 'sun soaked' deck this morning with my two cats (loving it also!) with my coffee and 'writing' pad being serenading by nature's spring wonders - birds chirping, the sun reflecting my 'diamonds' on the water and the milder air of what appears to be a change in the seasons - and then I come inside and find your sacred name on my computer screen - Miss M - it dosen't get any better than that - and I'm talking about your writing ....too!!!
