Divine Intervention

It has long been my proclivity
to tender hearted sensitivity...
that often lacked good sensibility...
in a skin that was too thin.

For I harbored a sense of worthlessness
that led to much great mirthlessness.
My substance of ingrained dearthlessness
I wore upon the chin.

Compelled to make my recompense,
a verb in a world of imperfect tense,
where nothing but tears would but condense,
I assumed I was the sin.

I could not rectify my state,
in a consistent phase of emotional au fait...
so quick on the draw to, thus, berate
with apologies to spin.

But then one day, without intention,
came to me, through Divine Intervention,
a gift bearing Love without condescension
and Acceptance entered in.

No longer is it my proclivity
to such tender hearted sensitivity...
and I lack not good sensibility,
for Truth now reigns within.

Geez, are you like an English teacher or something? I'm willing to bet that no matter your background, hubpages has brought out the poetry like nothing else before. It has for me. Peace.

Doug, I had to chuckle, no I am NOT an English teacher, but Hubpages has had a profound effect, for sure! This whole piece was the result of the word "Proclivity"...which is kind of odd, but the word got stuck in my head and this is what popped out! I can't explain it otherwise!

Proclivity is a word that best describes the human condition that you lay bare in this very cleverly constructed poem. It is as if there is another aspect of you poking its head through like a bird emerging from its shell. Your hubs continue to be a genuine and sincere account of an experience common to us all - life! Thank you. Voted up and awesome.

I need a dictionary for this one, but I enjoyed it anyway cause it has tempo and regularity...a repetitive similarity :o)

Fossillady, I confess pushing the envelope with "poetic license" on this one just a bit...the single word "proclivity" started it all! and it was a rock-slide from there! Thanks for the read and comment!

Proclivity is not in my dictionary, darn it. but like Fossi, i like it. Does it mean intent? My English teacher would be ashamed of me. Hee

...well simply put - it's your poetic interventions which are divine - because you always make them so - and we are witnessing a mighty miracle of work in progress just getting better and better!!

Ruby, LOL... proclivity is a "natural inclination"...I use an online dictionary... I did get a bit over the top with my word choice here but it was a fun and meaningful write for me...lol...good thing I don't talk like this or I would spend alot of time talking to myself! More than I do now!!!
